Discover the all-new Skoda Superb iV Hatch plug-in hybrid with 268 horsepower, enhanced battery, and upgraded brakes for an exceptional driving experience.
Skoda Introduces Plug-In Hybrid Version of the Superb Hatch
Skoda has unveiled the all-new Superb Hatch plug-in hybrid, now the most powerful model in the lineup. The addition of an electric motor boosts both power and fuel efficiency, making the Superb iV the most potent Superb yet.
New Powertrain Produces 268 Horsepower
The updated Superb iV combines Skoda's reliable 1.5 TSI petrol engine, which delivers 174 horsepower (177 metric horsepower), with a complementary electric motor. Together, they generate a total output of 268 horsepower (272 metric horsepower), with the electric motor contributing 114 horsepower (115 metric horsepower).
This powertrain produces 295 pound-feet (400 Newton meters) of torque—an increase of 37 pound-feet (50 Newton meters) over the previous plug-in hybrid system. This results in improved performance, with 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 kph) acceleration in 7.1 seconds and a top speed of 140 mph (225 kph).
With these enhancements, the Superb iV sets a new benchmark as the most powerful Superb model ever built, surpassing the former top variant that produced 201 horsepower (204 metric horsepower). This new powertrain will be available exclusively on the Superb Hatch.
Upgraded Braking and Advanced Battery Technology
To accommodate the increased performance, the Superb iV sports larger, ventilated rear brake discs measuring 310 millimeters in diameter and 22 millimeters in thickness, up from the previous 300 by 12 millimeters.
It is currently the most powerful combustion-engine model in Skoda's lineup. The high-voltage battery pack offers a capacity of 25.7 kWh and supports fast charging, reaching from 10% to 80% in about 26 minutes. This allows the vehicle to travel up to 84 miles (135 kilometers) on pure electric power, producing zero tailpipe emissions during these trips.
Skoda's Expanding Plug-In Hybrid Portfolio
The Superb was Skoda's first plug-in hybrid model when launched in 2019, followed by the Octavia IV in 2020 and the Kodiaq PHEV in 2024.
Skoda has sold over 68,000 Superb iV units across both generations and all body styles throughout Europe. Impressively, one in four new Superb sales features the plug-in hybrid drivetrain.
The new Superb iV will be available later this year, with pricing details announced closer to market launch.
