The 2024 Skoda Kodiaq begins production with gasoline, diesel, mild-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains, expanding Skoda’s flagship crossover lineup.
2024 Skoda Kodiaq Begins Production as the Czech Counterpart to VW Tiguan
The all-new 2024 Skoda Kodiaq has officially started production at Skoda’s Kvasiny plant in the Czech Republic, marking a major development for the brand’s flagship SUV.
Upgraded Factory Boosts Production Capacity
Following a 49-million investment to upgrade the production line and welding facilities, the factory can now produce an additional 150,000 units annually of the Kodiaq mid-size and Karoq compact SUVs. Production capacity has increased to 410 units of the Kodiaq per day.
This second-generation model builds on the success of its predecessor, which saw over 870,000 units produced across several factories in the Czech Republic, Ukraine, China, and Russia (until early 2022), serving customers in 60 countries worldwide.
Modern MQB Evo Platform and Diverse Powertrain Options
The new Kodiaq rides on the MQB Evo platform, shared with the latest Volkswagen Tiguan, Passat, Golf, and Skoda Superb models, as well as other Volkswagen Group vehicles including the Audi A3, Q6, Cupra Formentor, and SEAT Leon.
The 2024 Kodiaq offers a range of powertrains: gasoline, diesel, mild-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid options. The plug-in hybrid pairs a 1.5L TSI engine with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 201 hp (204 ps/150 kW) and an electric-only range of up to 62 miles (100 km). This variant comes with a six-speed DSG transmission and front-wheel drive.
Other options include a 1.5 TSI mild-hybrid, a 2.0 TSI, and two 2.0 TDI diesel engines, all mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission. All-wheel drive is available on the top-tier 2.0L gasoline and diesel versions.
Inside, the new Kodiaq is among the most spacious in its class, featuring a longer wheelbase that provides more room for rear passengers and cargo. An optional third-row seating configuration offers enhanced headroom for additional passengers.
