2024 Skoda Scala and Kamiq Get Stylish Updates and More Efficient Engines

Discover the refreshed 2024 Skoda Scala hatchback and Kamiq crossover featuring sleek LED Matrix headlights, sustainable interiors, and efficient evo2 TSI engines.

2024 Skoda Scala Hatchback and Kamiq Crossover Launch With Updates Across the Board

The Czech automaker from Mlada Boleslav offers a practical alternative to Volkswagen's Golf refresh with its Scala hatchback and Kamiq crossover SUV, both built on the versatile Volkswagen Group MQB A0 platform.

    Design and Features

Launched in 2019, the Skoda Scala fills the gap between the Fabia and Octavia, replacing the Rapid Spaceback. The Kamiq, also introduced in 2019, expands Skoda’s crossover lineup as its smallest SUV, positioned below the Karoq, all-electric Enyaq, and Kodiaq models.

Both models receive comprehensive updates that enhance their complementary appeal. True to Volkswagen Group’s subtle refresh style, the changes are refined but impactful—highlighted by new LED Matrix headlights with sharp designs. Updated front and rear bumpers add sportier touches to the Scala and a stronger SUV presence to the Kamiq.

The interiors now feature fresh Design Selections with eco-friendlier materials. New additions include an optional electric tailgate with a "virtual pedal," several Simply Clever solutions, and fully digital cockpits highlighted by a standard 8-inch Digital Display and an 8.25-inch infotainment touchscreen.

Connectivity is boosted with up to four USB-C ports delivering 45W charging, plus a Phone Box offering 15W wireless charging. The lineup is simplified to three trims—SE, SE L, and Monte Carlo—with customers choosing from three interior Design Selections: Loft, Lodge, and Monte Carlo.

    Powertrain

Under the hood, the Scala and Kamiq boast more powerful and efficient 1.0-liter and 1.5-liter TSI engines from the evo2 generation of EA211 petrol powertrains, offering between 95 to 150 PS (94 to 148 hp). Notably, the upgraded 1.0 TSI now produces 116 PS (114 hp), while the refined 1.5 TSI features a new catalytic converter and enhanced software for the ACT+ active cylinder deactivation system, improving fuel efficiency and smoothness by running on just two cylinders when possible.
