2026 Skoda Epiq Spied Looking As Close to Production As It Gets
Skoda is gearing up to launch its electric vehicle lineup with the Epiq, a B-segment crossover SUV set to be produced alongside the Volkswagen ID. Cross at SEAT's Pamplona factory in Spain.
Design and Features
The Epiq was recently spotted testing on Spanish roads, showcasing a near-production design that closely follows its concept car. Notable styling elements include vents on the lower front bumper, distinctive T-shaped running lights, and side mirrors mounted on the doors.
Building on the Modern Solid design language first seen on the Elroq compact crossover, the Epiq features an upright rear end with a sporty downward rake on the rear window and prominent, muscular C-pillars.
Technical Details
Moving away from the traditional rear drum brakes found on Volkswagen Group’s MEB-based EVs, the Epiq adopts front-wheel drive. It is built on the BEV-focused MEB+ platform, which differs from the standard MEB by incorporating a torsion-beam rear suspension.
This torsion-beam setup suits the subcompact segment well, especially for urban driving. From Volkswagen Group’s perspective, it frees up more trunk space, cuts production costs, and reduces weight — all contributing to improved driving range.
Cockpit and Charging
Inside, the Epiq offers a pragmatic cockpit design emphasizing physical controls over touchscreen or haptic interfaces. Expect two large screens: a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel and a 13-inch infotainment touchscreen.
The model will offer both standard and long-range battery options, using LFP and NMC cells respectively, with a targeted WLTP range of 425 kilometers (264 miles). Charging rates are expected at 90 kW for the LFP battery and 130 kW for the NMC pack.
Charging from 10% to 80% should take approximately 27 minutes with the LFP battery and 23 minutes with the larger NMC battery.
Dimensions and Trunk Space
Measuring around 4.1 meters (13.4 feet) in length, the Epiq is compact but spacious inside. Its trunk offers a generous 490 liters (17.3 cubic feet) of cargo space, ideal for daily needs or weekend getaways.
Production and Availability
Volkswagen Group has centralized MEB+ vehicle production in Spain, dividing assembly between the Pamplona and Martorell plants. The 2026 Skoda Epiq and Volkswagen ID. Cross will both be built at the Pamplona facility in Navarra.
