2026 Skoda Epiq Spied With Sharp Design and Concept-Inspired Features

Skoda advances its EV lineup with the 2026 Epiq, a small electric crossover launching in late 2025 with impressive range and innovative design.

Skoda Expands EV Lineup with the New MEB Entry-Based Epiq Small Electric Crossover

Skoda is gearing up to launch its latest electric model, following the Epiq concept revealed in March 2024. The upcoming Epiq was recently seen undergoing high-altitude testing in Spain's Sierra Nevada mountains.

    Epiq’s Production-Ready Design Details

The small crossover showcases production-ready taillights and a rear bumper, featuring a wide-opening liftgate for easy access. It retains the concept's distinctive slotted front bumper and comes equipped with low rolling resistance tires mounted on five-lug wheels designed for production use.

Unlike its higher-positioned siblings — the Elroq and Enyaq — the Epiq includes rear disc brakes. This marks a notable upgrade from the typically rear-biased MEB electric platform seen in those models, reflecting Volkswagen Group’s efforts to improve cost-effectiveness without compromising quality in this front-driven model.

    Production Plans and Timeline

Pre-production activities are set to commence this year, with an official reveal expected in the latter half of 2025. The Epiq will debut as a 2026 model, with manufacturing handled by SEAT at the Martorell plant near Barcelona, Spain.

    Performance Specs and Expected Pricing

Initial reports suggest the Epiq will be front-wheel drive only, dismissing all-wheel-drive options. Its powertrain lineup is expected to include two variants: a base model with 118 kW (160 PS) and a higher-output version producing 140 kW (190 PS).

These power outputs point to two battery options at launch. Drawing a comparison, Volkswagen’s ID.2all concept — which previews the ID.2 — promises up to 450 kilometers (280 miles) on the WLTP cycle and supports DC fast charging up to 125 kW.

Skoda projects the Epiq’s range will exceed 400 kilometers (249 miles) on a single charge. The crossover’s cargo space is impressive for its class, with a trunk capacity of 490 liters (17.3 cubic feet). This ample storage is partly enabled by the transition from rear-wheel drive (and drum brakes) used in the Elroq and Enyaq to front-wheel drive in the Epiq.
