Spy shots hint at 2026 Skoda Fabia RS revival, possibly featuring the 2.0L TSI engine from Volkswagen Polo GTI delivering 152 kW and 320 Nm.
2026 Skoda Fabia RS Spied, May Use Volkswagen Polo GTI's 2.0L Engine
After a decade-long absence, Skoda seems to be planning a comeback for the Fabia RS, its performance supermini. Recent spy photos indicate the new Fabia RS could be powered by the 2.0-liter TSI engine found in the Volkswagen Polo GTI.
Fresh Styling Cues and Nurburgring Testing
The initial prototype spotted at the Nürburgring combines elements from both the standard Fabia and Fabia Monte Carlo but also features new design touches for this segment. Notably, its brake calipers sport a bold red color that mirrors the Polo GTI's signature look.
A second prototype shows silver brake calipers, a front lip spoiler with subtle winglets, and a sporty rear spoiler—parts not offered on the current Fabia. These hints underline the Fabia RS's focus on performance.
Features and Launch Timeline
Skoda is expected to reveal the Fabia RS in 2026, likely alongside or shortly after the mid-cycle refresh of the fourth-generation Fabia. The update will probably include tweaks to the 1.0- and 1.5-liter engines to meet upcoming Euro 7 emissions standards.
The Fabia RS could utilize the Polo GTI’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, delivering 152 kW and 320 Nm of torque from 1,500 to 4,500 rpm. While a manual gearbox won't be offered, a dual-clutch transmission is expected to handle power delivery.
Fabia’s Strong Market Performance
The Fabia continues to impress with strong sales, reaching 117,100 global units in 2024. This places it as Skoda's third-best selling model, following the Kamiq's 126,000 and the Octavia’s 215,700 units.
