The upcoming 2026 Skoda Space electric crossover, VW ID.7's Czech cousin, showcases towing capability and advanced interior features ahead of launch.
2026 Skoda Space Spied Towing: VW ID.7's Electric Crossover Cousin
The Skoda Space, set to be the brand's flagship electric crossover, is expected to debut in 2026 offering single- and dual-motor variants.
Latest Spy Shots and Renderings
Since its initial spy shot debut a few months ago, the Skoda Space has appeared in additional spy photos and inspired numerous renderings.
Recently spotted towing a load in Germany—rather than its usual snowy staging—the 2026 Space shares its VW Group MEB platform with models like the Enyaq, Elroq, Volkswagen ID.7, ID. Buzz, Cupra Born, Tavascan, Ford Explorer EV, and Audi Q4 e-tron.
Towing Capacity and Range Considerations
The current all-wheel-drive Skoda Kodiaq vRS, built on the MQB Evo platform, can tow up to 5,510 pounds (2,500 kg). However, electric vehicles typically have lower towing capacities than their internal combustion counterparts.
Additionally, towing a sizable trailer will notably reduce the Skoda Space's driving range.
Size and Powertrain Expectations
Measuring approximately 4.9 meters (192.9 inches) long—around 250 mm (9.8 inches) longer than the Enyaq—the Space claims its position as Skoda's flagship electric SUV.
While specific powertrain details remain under wraps, the lineup is expected to include entry-level single-motor versions and higher-end bi-motor all-wheel-drive variants.
Interior Highlights
Inside, the Space may feature a rectangular two-spoke steering wheel, innovative storage solutions like a concealed umbrella in the door, and an integrated child seat in the second row.
Additional tech could include a head-up display with augmented reality, a 14.6-inch central touchscreen, and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster.
Looking Ahead
We anticipate more prototype sightings to reveal the Space's styling and interior details gradually as camouflage is reduced.
Combined with official teasers, these insights will better define the Skoda Space before its expected 2026 launch, though the brand has yet to confirm an exact unveiling date.
