Meet the Skoda Elroq: The Ford Explorer EV's Czech Cousin
The Skoda Elroq is an upcoming electric crossover set to replace the Karoq in Skoda’s lineup, positioning itself between the forthcoming Epiq and the current Enyaq models. Built on the VW Group's versatile MEB platform, the Elroq will debut in four distinct configurations.
Specifications and Features
The Elroq will be available in 50, 60, 85, and 85x variants. Rear-wheel drive powers the 50 (168 horsepower), 60 (201 horsepower), and 85 (281 horsepower) versions, while the 85x adds a front electric motor, boosting output to 296 horsepower with all-wheel drive.
Inside, drivers will enjoy a 13-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 5-inch digital cockpit display, and an optional head-up display. Advanced features include remote parking, intelligent park assist, and various functions controlled via a dedicated smartphone app.
Design and Features
Recent unofficial photos reveal a prototype cloaked in green and black camouflage, riding on sleek black alloy wheels. The Elroq sports a wide, low grille flanked by slim LED daytime running lights, with main headlights integrated into an aggressive bumper featuring vertical side vents and a large central intake.
At the rear, the electric crossover draws inspiration from other Skoda models, showcasing a sporty diffuser, a roof-mounted spoiler, and the Skoda badge centered on the tailgate.
The Elroq is expected to make its official debut in early or late 2024. Until then, what do you think of the model shown in these unofficial digital renders?
