Skoda Elroq's Fabrics Were Made From Recycled Clothing and Plastic Bottles

At Skoda-fabia.com, we're excited to share fresh updates on the upcoming Skoda Elroq. This electric crossover, set to launch soon, is gaining attention for using innovative recycled materials throughout its interior. The Elroq's seats and upholstery combine fabrics made from recycled plastic bottles and, notably for the first time, recycled clothing. This sustainable approach marks a significant effort to reduce waste and push eco-friendly practices in the automotive sector.

Design Selections: A Step Towards Sustainability

The Skoda Elroq offers four distinct Design Selections: Studio, Loft, Lodge, and Suite. Each selection blends sustainable materials, including recycled PET (Recytitan) and recycled clothing. For example, the Loft Design Selection incorporates 78% recycled PET alongside recycled clothing—a first in automotive interiors. The dark faux leather upholstery, accented with yellow reflective stitching, pairs elegantly with the dark gray-blue fabric, crafting a stylish yet sustainable cabin. Beyond recycled fabrics, the Elroq features Technofil, a textile containing ECONYL yarns made from regenerated nylon sourced from discarded fishing nets and fabric scraps. The Lodge Design Selection uses this eco-conscious material, comprising 75% recycled ECONYL fibers and 25% polyester.

    What Is the Skoda Elroq?

Positioned below the Enyaq, the Skoda Elroq is a new electric crossover built on the VW Group's MEB platform, shared with EVs like the ID.3, ID.4, Cupra Tavascan, and Ford Explorer EV. The Elroq comes in four variants: 50, 60, 85, and 85x. The base 50 model packs a 52 kWh battery, while the mid-tier 60 features a 59 kWh unit. The higher-end 85 and 85x versions offer a 77 kWh battery pack. The Elroq 85x tops the range with a dual-motor setup delivering a combined 296 hp (300 ps/220 kW). Other trims include the rear-wheel-drive Elroq 85 with 281 hp (285 ps/210 kW) and the single-motor Elroq 60 with 201 hp (204 ps/150 kW). The claimed driving range exceeds 348 miles (560 km) for the top two models, which also support rapid charging up to 175 kW.

When Will the Skoda Elroq Arrive?

Although the official release date hasn’t been confirmed, the Skoda Elroq is anticipated to debut in late 2024 or early 2025, with orders opening soon after in Europe.
