Skoda Unveils Kylaq: Affordable Newcomer with Leading Trunk Space
Skoda has introduced the Kylaq, a new passenger vehicle crafted exclusively for the Indian market and produced locally. This model joins the Kushaq crossover and the Slavia sedan as Skoda's third India-focused launch.
Notable Features and Performance Specs
Built on Volkswagen Group's MQB A0 IN platform, the Kylaq is powered by a 1.0-liter turbocharged EA211 engine delivering 115 metric horsepower and 178 Newton-meters of torque. This model is offered solely with front-wheel drive paired with a choice of manual or torque-converter automatic transmissions.
It boasts segment-first electrically ventilated front seats and best-in-class cargo capacity, featuring a 446-liter trunk space behind the rear seats that expands to 1,265 liters when folded.
The vehicle reaches a top speed of 188 km/h (117 mph), with the manual variant accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 10.5 seconds.

Adopting Skoda's Modern Solid design language debuted with the Czech-built Elroq electric SUV, the Kylaq combines style with safety. It includes over 25 active and passive safety features such as six airbags, an electronic differential lock, and motor slip regulation.
For connectivity, the standard infotainment system offers a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, complemented by a Qi wireless charging pad.
Pricing and Market Launch
Manufactured at Skoda's Chakan plant in India, the Kylaq is competitively priced from ₹789,000 (approximately $9,400 or €8,700). It is slated to arrive in dealerships by early 2025.
