Skoda honors its heritage with an electric crossover concept inspired by the iconic Favorit hatchback, blending retro design with modern EV tech.
Skoda Revives the Classic Favorit as an Electric Crossover Concept
Czech automaker Skoda has unveiled a new concept car that pays tribute to one of its iconic models from the past — the Favorit hatchback.
A Legacy Revisited: The Skoda Favorit
Launched in 1987, the Favorit was a milestone for Skoda. Designed by Bertone, it featured a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine producing 54 to 67 horsepower. Its popularity led to production until 1994, when it was succeeded by the Felicia. The Favorit also inspired a wagon variant called the Forman, as well as various racing versions.
From Hatchback to Electric Crossover
Concept designers Ljudmil Slavov and David Stingl spent 120 hours transforming the original Favorit into a modern electric crossover. Compact in size with a battery pack integrated into the floor, this vehicle aims to be a practical and stylish city car.
The concept nods to the original Favorit, especially noticeable in the front headlights' design. Additionally, the designers created a racing-inspired version featuring soft-touch bumpers, shown in the accompanying gallery.
Though Skoda is unlikely to revive the Favorit nameplate or produce a vehicle identical to this concept, key design elements showcased here may influence future production models — showcasing the creativity behind these design exercises.
