Skoda Unveils the Dual-Motor Elroq vRS Delivering 340 Horsepower and 340 Miles of Range
Skoda has introduced the sportiest version of its Elroq compact crossover—the Elroq vRS—with a dual-motor system producing an impressive 340 horsepower. This powerful setup accelerates the vehicle from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.4 seconds.
Elroq Production Commences
Although Elroq production only began in January, Skoda is already expanding the lineup with the sporty vRS variant. Adding a front motor boosts total output to 340 horsepower, shaving the 0-100 km/h time down to 5.4 seconds.
Built on the MEB platform, which debuted in 2019 with the Volkswagen ID.3, the Elroq benefits from ongoing updates enhancing efficiency and performance. This platform forms the foundation of Volkswagen's electrification efforts.
Skoda’s Growing Electrification Strategy
Currently, Skoda produces three MEB-based models: the Eniaq (2020), Eniaq Coupe (2022), and the Elroq, which started production this year. While the Eniaq variants align with Volkswagen's ID.4 and ID.5, the Elroq lacks a direct Volkswagen counterpart.
The Elroq’s compact size offers an advantage across many European markets by maximizing interior space without increasing exterior dimensions. Skoda’s packaging expertise ensures that the sporty vRS maintains ample cabin room.
Enhanced Performance and Range
Equipped with an 84-kWh battery (79 kWh usable), the Elroq vRS can travel up to 550 km (340 miles) on a single charge. This is just slightly below the single-motor Elroq 85’s 580 km (360 miles) WLTP-rated range. Actual mileage will vary based on driving conditions, weather, tire pressure, and terrain.
The Elroq vRS features a sport-tuned chassis with progressive steering for sharper handling. Its lowered suspension (15 mm front, 10 mm rear) can be upgraded with adaptive dampers via the optional DCC chassis offering 15 adjustable settings in Individual mode.
Convenience and Safety Technologies
The Elroq vRS includes premium features such as matrix-LED adaptive headlights, sports seats with a standard driver’s massage function, and a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Innovative Remote Park Assist allows parking maneuvers in parallel and perpendicular spots through the MySkoda app.
