Skoda Unveils Kodiaq Plug-In Hybrid Large Crossover SUV in Australia Starting at $42k

Skoda Australia has expanded its lineup of large family-oriented crossover SUVs to include internal combustion engine (ICE), plug-in hybrid, and all-electric variants. The Czech brand is clearly focusing on meeting diverse Australian market demands.

    Driving Forward with Electrification

Earlier this fall, Skoda introduced the Elroq 60 Select as an entry-level battery electric vehicle (BEV), alongside the Elroq 85 Select and the special Elroq 130 Years Edition. Following that, updated Enyaq 60 and 85 models arrived, offering larger families enhanced driving range and premium features.

The electric lineup continues to grow. Skoda launched the all-new Kodiaq RS, a seven-seat flagship crossover with traditional ICE power, then promptly announced the Kodiaq Select PHEV. Positioned between the Sportline and RS trims, the PHEV offers a comfort-oriented alternative to Skoda's sporty SUVs.

Kodiaq Select PHEV: Practical and Comfortable

The plug-in hybrid Kodiaq seats five and boasts a generous 745-liter (26.3 cu ft) cargo capacity. It combines a 1.5-liter TSI engine with an 85 kW electric motor generating 330 Nm of torque, delivering a total output of 150 kW and 350 Nm (201 hp and 258 lb-ft).

This setup enables acceleration from 0 to 62 mph (100 kph) in 8.4 seconds. More notably, its battery offers up to 112 km (69 miles) of zero-emissions driving on a single charge per WLTP standards. The vehicle supports both AC and DC charging, with up to 11 kW AC and 50 kW DC fast-charging capabilities.

    2026 Kodiaq Range Pricing Overview

The Kodiaq lineup starts with the Select model priced at AUD 54,990 (approximately $36,377), followed by the Sportline at AUD 58,990 ($39,000). The new Select PHEV is available from AUD 63,490 (just under $42,000), while the flagship Kodiaq RS sits at AUD 69,990 ($46,305).
