Skoda Unveils New Compact SUV Designed for India, Set for 2025 Launch

Skoda announces a new compact SUV for India, smaller than the European Kamiq, built on the MQB-A0-IN platform with top safety ratings. Launching 2025.

Skoda Introduces a New Compact SUV Exclusively for the Indian Market

The Czech automaker is expanding its presence in India with a new compact SUV engineered specifically for local preferences. This upcoming crossover will be smaller than the European subcompact Kamiq, which measures 4,241 mm (167 inches) in length.

Compact SUV Built on a Localized Platform

Skoda’s new model will be based on the MQB-A0-IN platform — a more affordable version of the MQB-A0 architecture that supports vehicles like the Kamiq, Scala, Fabia, SEAT Ibiza, Arona, VW Polo, T-Cross, and Audi A1.

It will comply with India's stringent emission and safety standards. Both the Kushaq and Slavia, built on the same platform, have earned a maximum five-star rating in Global NCAP crash tests.

    Design Highlights and Powertrain Options

The official sketch from Skoda previews a familiar design language with the brand’s signature grille, narrow LED headlights, prominent front bumper intakes, muscular fenders, a clam-shell hood, slim side mirrors, and functional roof rails.

While detailed engine specs are forthcoming, it's expected to offer efficient three- and four-cylinder petrol engines similar to the Kushaq and Slavia. Transmission options will likely include both manual and automatic gearboxes, with automatic offered as an option.

    Help Name Skoda’s New SUV

Skoda is inviting fans and potential buyers to suggest names for the new SUV. The official name will be revealed later this year and is expected to end with the letter "q," in line with Skoda's naming convention.

    Launch Timeline and Market Focus

The new compact SUV is planned for launch in the first half of 2025 and will be exclusive to the Indian market. It aims to help Skoda achieve its goal of selling 100,000 vehicles annually in India by 2026.
