Skoda Unveils Vision O Concept: Electric Octavia Combi Arrives September 2025

This fall marks a major milestone in Skoda's electrification, as the Vision O concept debuts on September 8 in Munich. This electric version of the Octavia Combi offers a sneak peek at the brand's exciting future.

Vision O Concept: A Bold Look Ahead

The Vision O embodies Skoda's Modern Solid design language, featuring clean lines that highlight the brand's core values. Notably, the B-pillar seamlessly integrates into the rear design, while a split roof-mounted spoiler and slim, elegantly shaped taillights complete the forward-looking silhouette.

Branding details like the Skoda script and Vision O lettering on the rear hatch blend the concept's dynamic styling with the more refined look expected in the production model.

    Electrification Pathway: What We Know

Built on the advanced Scalable Systems Platform (SSP), the Vision O concept represents Skoda's future electric architecture, expected to reach dealerships by 2027 at the earliest. The latest the platform will appear is 2029, coinciding with Volkswagen's next-generation Golf launch.

Since Volkswagen acquired Skoda in the 1990s, the Octavia has closely mirrored the Golf’s foundations. The SSP supports diverse battery chemistries and 800-volt systems, setting a versatile base for future electric vehicles.

While rumors suggest extraordinarily high power output figures, Skoda and Volkswagen remain tight-lipped on specific powertrain details, including drivetrain layout.

    Looking Forward

For the Vision O, which matches the Octavia Combi’s size, a fully electric powertrain with one or two motors seems likely. Currently, Skoda’s electric lineup uses the MEB platform, with their longest-range models offering rear-wheel drive. The Vision O may follow a similar approach, delivering efficiency and driving engagement.
